Introduction

This article provides troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue of a flashing mute icon appearing on a TV display.

Instruction

  1. Check Firmware Version (Samsung TVs):

    1. Press the Settings button on the Samsung remote.

    2. Navigate to Support.

    3. Select Software Update.

    4. The current firmware version will be displayed on the right side of the menu.

    5. Choose Update Now to check for updates.

      1. If an update is available, it will download and install automatically.

      2. If no update is available, a notification will appear.

  2. Check Firmware Version (LG TVs):

    1. Press the button with the gear icon on the LG remote.

    2. Navigate to General Settings and select System Information.

    3. The current firmware version will be listed next to S/W Version.

  3. Troubleshoot the Flashing Mute Icon:

    1. Press the Mute button on the remote to disable mute.

    2. Increase the TV volume using the remote to ensure the mute icon disappears.

    3. Go to the Sound settings on the TV and confirm that the audio output is set to the correct source.

    4. If the flashing mute icon persists, proceed to the next step.

  4. Mute Icon Fix:

    1. Exit the CMS by pressing the Exit button on the remote.

    2. Use the remote to turn the volume up to 1.

    3. Press the Mute button on the remote to display the mute icon.

    4. Press the Mute button again to display the set volume of 1 and relaunch the CMS.

      Note: If the flashing mute icon reappears, press the Mute button on the remote.

    5. Turn off the TV and turn it back on to relaunch the CMS.
